We are lucky enough to work with some of the industries best florists and event stylists. We are always looking for ways to inspire our readers, by keeping our fingers on the pulse of upcoming event styling trends. For the “2017 Event forecast” we have pulled together a catalogue of all the styling trends to look out for in 2017 to help inspire your next soiree.
ORGANIC AND WILD
Your Pinterest and Insta feeds will be overflowing with BIG flowers; from Hydrangeas to Dahlias to Proteas. Mix these Big berthas with organic and wild pairings like spinning gum and privet and you have yourself a stunning bouquet. The ladies at Berwick Flowers have also let me know that the Protea is so trendy that they sell out within minutes of being delivered to the store. For some seasonal bloom inspiration, check out Floral States Instagram.
This year we will see events full of native and textural flowers. Gone are the days of seeing perfect round ball of flowers full of crisp white roses and wrapped in green ribbon. Our lovely floral friends at little Triffids in Wagga Wagga show us how to incorporate texture into your floral arrangement. Sophie tells me we will see flowers that are “Natural, organic and a little bit wild.”
For invitations, and signage we will see a flood of handwriting and calligraphy. “Think watercolor swathes with elegant script and definitely no more Kraft paper”, says Danielle from Design in words. “Handmade paper has a beautiful texture which can be combined with rich golds or metallics offer a beautiful twist for a rustic themed wedding.” A stunning variety of colours and striking fonts can be seen on The Print Fairy’s gallery page.
Finally a word on Venues: whether you are planning your big day or a corporate function, your venue can make or break a celebration. We are seeing a huge trend in Big Bold Rustic spaces. Exposed beams, exposed bricks, sleek furniture and plenty of greenery. Wow your guests by choosing a venue that has a little personality.
